Dinosaur Crowd Funding Projects Backed May through August 2016

Crowd funding is perfect for what I’m trying to do with this website. Expand the appreciation of dinosaurs for adults. Since crowd funding isn’t exactly instant gratification, it tends to attract an older crowd. I’ve been hitting the crowd funding campaigns a lot lately. I’ve backed several projects with rewards and will be putting up reviews or unboxings or whatever you want to call it here on the site. Below i’ll give a brief overview of the project, as well as what rewards I chose.

Acheson Heavy Metal

Funnily enough one of the last projects I backed will probably be the first one that I get to put hands on. I ordered some dinosaur miniatures from the Acheson Heavy Metal Kickstarter campaign. I ordered the set of 4 Utahraptors and 1 Dilophosaurus. The campaign said they would be released by October 2016, but a recent campaign update says they may start shipping as early as September 2016!

Save Mongolia’s Dinosaurs

This one was an Indiegogo campaign, and pretty much just for charity. Teaching children about dinosaurs in the remote regions where they dig up the bones. I chose the t-shirt reward just because I could actually use a t-shirt right now, and because I like the little Velociraptor drawn by Emily Willoughby. It’s for a great cause too, so it was kind of a no-brainer. This should arrive sometime in November 2016.

This is probably the one I am most excited about. I’m an avid video game player, and have really enjoyed playing The Isle. A dinosaur survival game sounds amazing, and since this Kickstarter campaign reached it’s multiplayer goal, I am even MORE hyped to play it. I will hopefully be streaming this on Twitch when it’s released, depending on NDAs and what not. Should be available in January of 2017.

Beasts of the Mesozoic

While I am not sure exactly what I’ll do with these when I get ’em, I think this is probably the most unique campaign I have backed yet. As a collector for practically my entire life, how could I pass up accurate dinosaur action figures? These are quite a ways off in May 2017, but David Silva is putting out TONS of updates. It’s like watching your kids grow up.

The Next Big Thing

I’m always looking for crowd funding projects. Even if it’s not something I am interested in backing personally, it’s something write about for the site. If you know of a dinosaur related crowd funding project, leave it in the comments. I’ll be glad to take a look at nearly anything dinosaur themed, but I am only interested in stuff for adults. There should be a dinosaur miniatures game coming in February 2017. Beyond that, we’ll just have to wait and see what the coming months bring!
